A week ago the whole class watched the movie “About a Boy”. Some of the students had read the book, but I read “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian”. The movie was about the man Will who were rich due to his father who left him a lot of money. He decides he wants to get a girlfriend, so he begin to attending to a support group for single parents. Due to that this group is only for single parents, he invents a son. He meets the boy Marcus at a picnic with one of the single mothers. During the movie, does Marcus want to fix Will up with his mother, something Will does not want to. Marcus and Will starts hanging out a lot, because Will does not work, and Marcus does not have any friends and his mother and him is poor. They become good friends.
I think the movie was funny and interesting. It was nice to see how Marcus and Will, two boys at completely different ages become friends. Marcus is bullied at school, so I think his friendship with Will means a lot to him. I think it was a cute ending on the movie, where Marcus was going to perform a song in front of the whole school. Will realized this would be a huge embarrassment for Marcus, so he joined him at the stage. I think this was a good ending, but after what I have heard from the others in class that have read the book, the movie did exclude some parts from the book that should have been in the movie.
